JAMB CAPS Admission List and O’Level Result Upload
There is one thing that will stop your name from ever appearing on the JAMB CAPS admission list, regardless of your score. If your O’level results are not uploaded to your JAMB profile, no institution can complete your admission on CAPS.

The medical screening is done on campus once you resume. You will pay a medical screening fee, and the school clinic will carry out the required tests themselves, things like blood group, genotype, chest X ray, and a physical check. They then issue you an official, signed Medical Fitness Certificate, which goes into your file for departmental and faculty clearance.
So for now, do not spend money on medical tests at home. Just focus on your other documents such as O Level, JAMB slips, and LGA letters. The medical report will be handled smoothly on campus.

For the “Not Admitted” status, do not panic. That is the default for every candidate at the start of the admission season. It just means ABSU has not uploaded their list yet. For the LGA Letter and State of Origin Certificate, they serve the same purpose at clearance. You only need one of them, so visit your local government secretariat and request whichever is easier to get.
After getting admission, do not travel to campus immediately. Log into the ABSU portal, pay your acceptance fee, and print both your ABSU and JAMB admission letters. Then wait for ABSU to announce the official resumption date for freshers before travelling.
For the Letter of Attestation, you need two separate letters from two respected adults who are not your parents, such as a pastor, lawyer, or senior civil servant. Black and white print is fine as long as it is on their letterhead with their contact details and original signature.
For your photocopies, get three to four flat files in different colours and put a complete set of documents in each one. You will submit them separately to the Admissions office, your Faculty, and your Department.

A Course is the main programme you are studying, the one written on your admission letter. In your case, English Language and Literature. That is your course. However, within that course, you will study several individual subjects every semester. Those subjects are called course units at the university level, and they make up your main programme. That is what confused you with your cousin. His main course is Computer Science, but to become a well-rounded computer scientist, he also has to study Economics and Mathematics as supporting subjects within that programme. Every department designs their programme that way.
A Department is the academic unit that manages your course. Since your course is English Language and Literature, you will belong to the Department of English. Your department handles your registration, results, and academic affairs throughout your stay in school.
A Faculty is the bigger umbrella that groups related departments together. For example, the Department of English, Department of History, and Department of Philosophy might all sit under the Faculty of Arts. Think of it this way, Faculty is the building, Departments are the rooms inside, and your Course is what you study in your room.
So in your case: Faculty of Arts, Department of English, Course is English Language and Literature.

For pens and correction pens, yes you can use any coloured pens and correction tape in your lecture notes. Blue or black is standard, red is great for emphasis, and green works well for key terms. University is not secondary school and nobody checks your personal notebooks. Just make sure to use strictly blue or black pen during official exams.
