We are now in mid-July 2026, and the post-UTME 2026 cycle has shifted decisively. The schools that opened early and closed fast, UNILAG, LASU, and IAUE, are no longer accepting registrations.

As a result, candidates who are still seeking an active window must pivot immediately to the schools that remain open right now.

The good news is that two of Nigeria’s finest universities, UI and OAU, are still actively selling 2026 post-UTME forms. However, their windows are not unlimited. Therefore, reading this tracker and acting on it today is more important than reading it and acting next week.

Public vs. Private Logic: Understanding the Two Tracks for 2026 Post-UTME Forms

The most important thing to understand about 2026 post-UTME forms is that public and private universities operate on completely different timelines.

Public universities run tight, calendar-bound windows. They announce an opening date, a closing date, and in some cases a separate exam date. Once the registration window closes, it closes. There are no extensions in most cases, and missing the window means you are out of contention for that school this cycle.

Private universities, in contrast, operate on rolling intake models. Many do not run a formal CBT-based post-UTME 2026 exercise at all. Instead, they conduct continuous interviews, document reviews, and credential assessments throughout the season.

As a result, private universities remain viable options even for candidates who have already missed several public university windows.

Avoid Outdated Information: Spotting Closed or Stale Post-UTME 2026 Entries

A major problem with generic admission update sites is that they often leave old information live after portals have closed. If you find a page listing UNILAG, LASU, or IAUE as currently open, that page has not been updated. All three closed in June and early July 2026.

If any admission site you are reading does not clearly reference the 2026/2027 session and provide specific dates, treat everything on that page with caution.

Active Portals: Universities Selling Post-UTME Forms Right Now

These are the institutions with confirmed and verified open registration windows as of July 10, 2026.

University of Ibadan (UI)

UI’s post-UTME 2026 registration is active right now and closes on Sunday, July 19, 2026. That is nine days from today’s date on this update, and the University of Ibadan has explicitly stated there will be no extension of the registration period. If UI is your target, do not read this and come back tomorrow.

Eligibility requires a minimum UTME score of 200 and UI must be your first choice institution. Candidates applying to the College of Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacy must have five O’level credits at one sitting in relevant subjects.

For all other programmes, candidates presenting results from two sittings must have at least six credits in relevant subjects. In addition, UI does not accept IJMB or JUPEB for Direct Entry.

The total fee is ₦5,000, made up of a ₦2,000 screening fee and a ₦3,000 portal access fee. Payment is made exclusively through the official portal at admissions.ui.edu.ng using your JAMB registration number as your username and your surname in capitals as your initial password.

The post-UTME CBT examination is scheduled from Monday, July 27 to Wednesday, July 29, 2026. UI will communicate each candidate’s specific exam date by email, so use a valid, active email address during registration.

Candidates who do not receive their login details after payment should return to the portal and click “Confirm Your Payment” using their JAMB registration number.

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)

OAU has the longest active registration window of any major public university right now, running from June 16 to Friday, August 14, 2026. However, a long window does not mean a relaxed one.

OAU is one of Nigeria’s most applied-to institutions, and portal congestion builds significantly in the weeks before the closing date. Therefore, register now rather than in the final week.

Eligibility requires a minimum UTME score of 200 with OAU selected as first choice. You must also have at least five O’level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, from not more than two sittings.

Candidates with awaiting results are eligible to apply but must upload their O’level results once available.

The screening fee is ₦2,000, excluding portal access charges. To register, visit eportal2.oauife.edu.ng, select “Verify your Details,” enter your JAMB registration number, email, and phone number. After payment is confirmed, login details will be sent to your email. Complete your application under “My Application.”

Candidates must check their screening schedule on the OAU admissions portal from Monday, August 24, 2026. The physical screening exercise runs from September 1 to September 5, 2026, and candidates must attend at their assigned date, time, and designated centre.

Submitting false information or incorrect credentials will result in automatic disqualification. OAU also explicitly states it does not endorse or encourage the use of admission agents. All enquiries should go directly to postutme2026@oauife.edu.ng.

Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH)

LASUSTECH opened its post-UTME 2026 registration on July 4, 2026, and is currently accepting applications on an ongoing basis. This is a strong alternative for Lagos-based candidates who missed the LASU window, or for candidates who meet LASUSTECH’s eligibility requirements.

Check the official LASUSTECH portal directly for current cut-off mark specifications by course, since requirements vary by programme.

With active portals covered, let us look at the schools that have recently closed and what candidates who missed those windows should do next.

Recently Closed 2026 Portals

These portals are now closed for the 2026/2027 cycle. We keep this information live because many candidates are searching to confirm whether they missed a deadline. If you see any of these listed as “open” elsewhere, that information is outdated.

University of Lagos (UNILAG) closed its post-UTME 2026 registration on July 8, 2026. The minimum cut-off was 200.

However, one important detail remains active for registered UNILAG candidates: the O’level upload deadline on both JAMB CAPS and the UNILAG application portal is Friday, August 14, 2026. If you registered before the portal closed and have not uploaded your O’level results to both platforms, do this immediately.

Lagos State University (LASU) closed its screening window on June 23, 2026 at midnight. The minimum cut-off was 195. LASU did not conduct a written aptitude test; admission was based entirely on a point aggregate of JAMB score and O’level grades.

Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) closed its 2026/2027 post-UTME and Direct Entry registration on June 14, 2026. The minimum cut-off was 150.

If you missed all three of these windows, your active options are UI (closing July 19), OAU (closing August 14), LASUSTECH (ongoing), and private universities with rolling intakes.

Private University Directories: Rolling Intakes for 2026/2027

For candidates whose score did not meet a public institution’s cut-off, or who missed the public university windows entirely, private universities remain genuinely open options.

Established Private Universities

Covenant University, Babcock University, Afe Babalola University (ABUAD), Nile University, and Pan-Atlantic University run their own screening processes separate from the standard CBT post-UTME 2026 model.

These typically involve interviews, document review, and institution-specific entrance assessments. Covenant University’s 2026 institutional floor is 200. ABUAD operates at 180. Emerging Private Institutions

A growing number of newer private universities accept applications on a continuous rolling basis throughout the year. These institutions are worth considering for candidates who want to bypass the high-pressure deadline structure of public university post-UTME 2026 windows entirely.

The trade-off is cost. Tuition at private universities is significantly higher than at public institutions. For candidates evaluating this route, weigh the certainty of admission and the reduced deadline pressure against the financial commitment involved.

If your score is 200 and above and UI was your first choice:
You have until July 19. Register on admissions.ui.edu.ng today, pay the ₦5,000 fee, and begin preparing for the CBT exam on July 27 to 29. Confirm your O’level results are active on JAMB CAPS and that you are using a valid email address during registration.

If your score is 200 and above and OAU is a viable option:
OAU’s window runs until August 14. However, do not treat that as a distant deadline. Register now at eportal2.oauife.edu.ng, pay the ₦2,000 screening fee, and prepare for the physical screening on September 1 to 5. Check the portal from August 24 for your assigned date and venue.

If you missed UNILAG but are already registered:

If your score is below 200:
UI and OAU both require a minimum of 200. As a result, your active public university options this cycle are more limited. Confirm your O’level results are active on JAMB CAPS before registering for any remaining post-UTME 2026 window.
